So I'm helping my cousin outline stuff for her GMAT revision and I came across this:
And now I want all the Hades/Persephone modern day AUs.
(Demeter hates the government.)
(The population is small because the island is populated by the dead and the dead don't pay taxes.)
(Something something Charon??)
(how do I tag this post)
Edit: Here, have a pair of Hades/Persephone fics from AO3: Here Thy Hands Let Fall the Gather'd Flower and The Fruits of Hades (tw: for discussion of rape and rape culture in both because a) Olympus and b) Zeus, though there is no rape in either story). Both are excellent (I prefer the second, but the first has Artemis and Athena working together on Persephone's behalf and that is also pretty great), and both involve Persephone choosing to go to the Underworld for various reasons and then choosing to stay, which is the way I like my Persephone/Hades.
See also: Merrie Haskell's The Princess Curse, which mashes this with The Twelve Dancing Princesses and Beauty and the Beast and sets it in 15th century Romania. I am still really mad that this book does not have a sequel.
(But for The Twelve Dancing Princesses adaptations -- which have been mildly popularly lately, IDK why, though I'm not complaining --Entwined by Heather Dixon is my favourite.)
The following appeared as part of a memorandum from a government agency:
“Given the limited funding available for the building and repair of roads and bridges, the government should not spend any money this year on fixing the bridge that crosses the Styx River. This bridge is located near a city with a weakening economy, so it is not as important as other bridges; moreover, the city population is small and thus unlikely to contribute a significant enough tax revenue to justify the effort of fixing the bridge.”
