Apr. 19th, 2007 07:49 pmYou know, I have no patience with the hype over the Virginia Tech shootings, not because it isn't a tragedy but because the constant publicity is turning it from a tragedy into a sensationalist incident.
But this sums up exactly why this is such a tragedy. It is not a tragedy because someone was Not Right In The Head. It is not a tragedy because of the mental state of the shooter or because there were signs of his being Not Right In The Head before his killing spree. It is a tragedy because people died and there are people left behind who should not have to deal with the cheapening of the tragedy on top of the grief they have to work through right now.
